Remove hyperlinks when exporting

Hi
Is there any way to remove any hyperlinks in a report when they are exported
to another format like Excel.
ThanksHello,
Based on my scope, there is no built in method in Excel rendering extension
to achieve this goal. The possible solution is writing your own Excel
rendering extension though it is time-consuming.

Remove header using URL access

I have a report that has parameters. The report is called from a webpage using URL access. I know how to remove the toolbar or parameters with "&rc:Toolbar=false or &rcStick out tonguearameters=false". I want to remove only the header which displays SQL Server Report Services, the folder it is found in, the report name, Home | My Subscription | Help , Search for box, and the tabs (View, Properties, History, and Subscriptions). I cannot find an URL access parameter that will only remove this header information. I want to keep the parameter box and the toolbar. Does anyone have any ideas on the subject?

Fred

For this type of customization of report manager, you will probably need to create your own application in Visual Studio 2005 and use a report viewer.

Report manager is not very customizable.

|||

How difficult would it be to write a program to display the parameters like Reporting Services does and to use the selected parameter to refresh the report like Reporting Services does? Any samples?

Fred

|||

You can do this by linking to the report via the reportserver virtual directory rather than the report manager.

Try navigating to http://<your_server>/reportserver and then click through to your report. You will see that the report parameters and toolbar are still visible. Copy the URL and get your application to link to that instead.

|||

Adam,

Yes, this displays the parameters and toolbar, but it also displays the header information which is above the parameter section. I do not want my endusers to see this information ( as mentioned in the first post in this series). This information allows the user to navigate Report Manager which will confuse them. I only want them to see the report with the parameters and toolbar.

Fred

|||

Fred,

Can I suggest that you actually try the solution or read the post properly before commenting!

My suggestetion is based on a live system and I assure you it delivers exactly what you have desribed.

When I navigate to my report using the following URL https://servername/reportserver?%2fReports%2fReport+1&rs:Command=Render

I see this:

If I add &rc: parameters=collapsed to the URL I get this:

I popup my window from a piece of javascript where I use the following code:

Code Snippet

function openReport(name, parameters)

{

if(typeof(parameters) == "undefined") parameters = "";

var encodedName = name;

while(encodedName.indexOf(" ") != -1)

{

encodedName = encodedName.replace(" ", "+");

}

encodedName = escape(encodedName);

var URL = "/reportserver?%2fReports%2f"
+ encodedName
+ "&rs:Command=Render&rc:parameters=collapsed"
+ parameters;

var features = "resizable=yes"
+ ",location=no"
+ ",menubar=no"
+ ",status=no"
+ ",toolbar=no"
+ ",width=" + screen.width
+ ",height=" + screen.height
+ ",top=0"
+ ",left=0";

window.open(URL, "", features).focus();

return true;

}

Adam,

I apologize. I did not read your post correctly. I was using Report Manager and navigated to my report from the home page. Once I used the ReportServer directory I saw that it was exactly what I wanted.

Thank you,

Fred

Remove Fields Programatically

Is it possible to remove fields programatically from a report file at run time?

I have too many years worth or data being returned and it exceeds the width of an A4 page - So I want to allow the users to select the years that they wish to view via a checkedlistbox - but each time I remove the Columns from the dataTable that populates the report files I get an error as noted below

I'm using VS 2005 and CR shipped with it...

<error>
The field name is not known.
Error in Filed C:\documents and settings\<insert file path here>\rpt_siz_xty {EBEF8981-654C-42C7-9DDA-3AC4184771C8}.RPT:
Error in formula <sizYr01>.
If IsNull({sp_rpt_siz_xty;1.sizYr01}) Then space(12) Else Cstr({sp_rpt_siz_xty;1.sizYr01})
The field name is not known.
</error>

I've dome a fair amount of searching and can't seem to find any remove methods for the field definitions...

Anyone?I think the field u r deleting is used in a formula in report. U need to delete that formula also.|||Why do you want to do it at runtime?

Remove export options

I only want to provide my report users the ability to output to PDF. I tried setting toolbar=False and adding my own rendering hyperlink to PDF on my web page, but when I set toolbar to false I do not get a horizontal scrollbar for a wide report so I had to turn toolbar=true back on.
Is there a way to not provide any Export options except PDF in the standard Export drop-down?See previous post on this question:

remove duplicates

Hi I have a report where I am adding up totals of a group in the the report footer my code for this is

IF {BKGCNT.BKESIZ}= 20 and
{BKGCNT.BKETYP}=["DC","DH","FP","HC","HW","OT"]then
numbervar X:=X +{BKGDTL.BTEQTY}

My problem is that BKGDTL.BTEQTY has duplicates which are also added to the equation giving a false total.

I am new to crystal but is there a code I could use to either delete the duplicate or ensure it is not added.

Any help would be great... thankyou in advance.1 thing I can think of is select distinct records. On the toolbar under database select distinct records. That should help eliminate dups.
That is for CR 9

Hope that helps,

GJ|||Thankyou... I did try this but it didn't work unfortunately...
I will just keep trolling the web to see if I can find something..

cheers

Remove Drill Down on Group

Hi,
When first creating my report, I used the wizard to set up drill down on my
first group. I know want to remove that so that all the groups are expanded
by default. How can I change the group to remove the drill down?
Second...
I have the following in my report
Group 1
Group 2-1
Group 2-2
Group 2-3
Footer Group 1
How can I use the sub-totals in Group 2-1, 2-2, 2-3 in a formula in the
footer of Group1? Hope that made sense...
Thanks in advance.#1: Go to the properties of report band that is being
shown or hidden (most likely the detail band of the
report). Expand the Visibility property and make sure
Hidden is false and clear ToggleItem.
#2: Try using the scope parameter of the formula. For
example, Sum(Fields!field.Value,"Group 2-1")

Remove default parameter

I have a report with default parameters set as ' ' i.e a blank value through a query.

when i deploy this report RS2005 adds a <select a value> as the text listed in the dropdown beacuase of which it does not take my default value and no display of report.

How can I remove this text being shown.

Thanks,

Kiran.

Do you have the "allow blank value" property set? Also, is your query set up to return rows if the parameter is nothing?

Simone

|||

Yes the parameter has allow blank value set. and it returns a different table with values if this parameter is kept blank.

Hence i want users to selcet blank if they do not want to consider this parameter and not just leave the parameter value as

<select a value>

Thanks,

Help appreciated.

Kiran

|||

It seems that if you have a list of available values you must also set a default value. I have a case where I allow no value to be selected but have a list of available values when necessary. To handle this I add an "All" option to my available values list and set this as the default. If this is the chosen value, then I return all records. If another value is filtered the recordset is chosen based on the selection.

Simone

|||

Hello,

So what i should do is if I ahve a list of values and a default value set to the parameter I remove teh allow blank value and that would remove the select a value.

would taht be correct?

thanks

|||

Hello,

I have defqault value for the parameter from the list of available values.

Also i have unchecked the allow blank and allow null text boxes. Still tehre is the <select a value> in the parameter drop-down.

What next.

Thanks

|||

In your query that selects the data, do you have anything such as this:

where column = case when @.variable = '' then column else @.variable end

This tells the query to pull all data when the variable value is blank, otherwise pull only the data matching the variable value. You then need to ensure you have '' as a valid choice in the "available values" section.

Simone

|||

Thanks Simone,

I do have conditions like AND @.Country=' ' AND @.Srv_Level=' '

but there is a value in the dropdown that is ' ' which is also set as default value for some of teh parameters.

the difference is that selecting ' ' does not mean that select all values as in the dropdown there is an all functionality too. Selecting a ' ' matches a specific case and gives values returning to that condition.

I am thinking this is a RS2005 addition as in the designer view do not see the <select a value> in teh parameter dropdowns

Thanks

Maybe this will help you:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337234.aspx

I misunderstood your intentions with the blank value. The same should be true with having the blank value as your default. If it is a valid selection in the list and selected as your default value, so long as all other parameters also have a default value, your report should run. I am using both "ALL" and "" as defaults and do not have the <select a value> in my lists. I have either the "" or "All". Good luck.

Simone

I am using a SQL statement to return my list of available values. In the statement I add a UNION to include the '' default.

I used a UDF to strip out the rtf tags.
The UDF is shown below..
BE WARNED ! this is a rough and ready fix for a problem I had and will NOT
cope with all posible rft tags but it may be useful as start for you.

Remove Comma from an integer value

I am using crystal report 8.
I have a data base field called batch_number of type integer.
I am grouping it by batch_number.
In the report group footer i am using the Format Field and setting the
format to (1123) for the batch_number.
When the report is executed ,on the left hand side we get a Group Option which shows value that are in a group.
My problem is that the batch_number always comes with a comma
for example 10,001.In the report i am able to eliminate the comma
by using format filed dialog.
Does any one has idea on how to remove comma ?

Remove "Select All" Options from Multi Select Parameter Dropdown

Hi All

I am using SQL Server 2005 with SP2. I have multi select parameter in the report. In SP2 reporting services gives Select All option in the drop down.

Is there any way I can remove that option from the list?

Thanks

No you can't remove it. It was removed by the MS team in SP1, but popular demand meant it was reinstated. The only way to get rid of it is to build your own UI.|||

FYI : the story is here

http://blogs.msdn.com/bwelcker/archive/2006/08/14/700189.aspx

and here

http://blogs.msdn.com/bimusings/archive/2007/04/09/the-curious-saga-of-select-all-and-multi-valued-parameters-in-reporting-services.aspx

... note that in the followup comments in the first one, Brian W does note that:

re: Rather Ripped (Select All in Service Pack 1)

I understand all of the angst around this decision. We will definitely make this configurable in the future, either on a server level or a per-report level.

... after which somebody responds "I prefer per-server" -- but I personally (LSN) would prefer per-report. So they really can't win, can they <g>. No, seriously, in this case they can't win unless they do both...

Remove "CONSTRAINED" flag on Paramaters using Graphical Interface

I'm using MS Report Designer 2005.

When I create a parameter using the checkbox in the graphical design mode's filter pane, Report Designer automatically sets the constrained flag, eg:

STRTOMEMBER(@.ToWorkItemSystemId, CONSTRAINED)

How do I remove this? I can't do it in the generated text query because the program only let you edit mdx queries graphically or textually EXCLUSIVELY?

Once you switch to MDX mode, you cannot go back to Designer mode. Or, rather, if you do, your manual changes will be nuked because the designer doesn't support reverse-engineering manual changes.

I am curious though, why would you want to remove the CONSTRAINED flag?

|||

Please disregard. I was getting an error that my Parameters were invalid due to the contrained flag. I've since figured out that they were in the wrong format.

In any case, if a flag set\removed textually, it would be nice if there a way to do the same graphically.

Remove "All" and Keep "select All" from parameters

I know that when you select Multi from the parameter report properties, that it automatically makes "Select All" Available. So how would i take off the "All Value". My users dont want to see All, if Select ALL is available.

How do i exclude from "All" from my report parameter/dataset?

Are you returning "All" from a stored procedure or is it one of your multi value parameter value?

Remove <select a value> option

I have a parameter that get his values from a query.
his defualt value is Null.
In the report page, The first value is "<select a value>".
even if I give the parameter another defualt value Then it open with
this value selected but still the first value is "<select a value>".
Can I remove this?

Remove "The report is accessible at the following address:" text

I am sending emails to rpts via links. "The report is accessible at the
following address:" appears above the link. Is there a simple way to have
that text excluded from the email?
Thanks in advance
SPOThere is no way to remove this text. You would have to write your own
delivery extension.

Remove "blank" space?

I have a report that contains a table with two rows. Each of these rows
contains a table with a header row, detail row and footer row. When the
report loads, these inner tables expand to 5-20 rows of data. All well and
good. However, sometimes the top inner table has no data to render. But when
the report renders, this space is blank (the height of the row of the outer
table). So there's a big gap of whitespace at the top of the report.
Is there any way to have this space shrink to nothing (or nearly nothing)?
Or at least very small? I can't seem to find any way to make this happen.
Thanks,

Remote Web Report timing out

I've got an internal Reporting Server and I can access the reports directly
there with no problem.
I can generate a report with the WinForm without a problem as well.
What I'm trying to do is to use a second, public web server that has an ASPX
page containing the reportviewer control that connects to the internal web
server so we can implment the seucurity system used by the rest of the web
site.
I can open the report, which has an input parameter without a problem. When
I enter a parameter and attempt to generate the report, it connects to the
Report Server without a problem but then sits there, spinning the little
green arrow until it times out.
With profiler turned on I can see the exact same set of data calls being
made when the report is run on the report server, in the WinForm and in the
WebForm, the only difference being that it appears the WebForm never gets the
data back.
Any ideas?

Normally hitting the web server will be slower if it is on another
machine/server. Also, communicating through IIS and a network takes
extra time. The only suggestion I have is to tune the query/stored
procedure that sources the report via the Database Engine Tuning
Advisor. This might give you a little performance improvement. Hope
this helps.

permissions issue.
I got it resolved and it works fine.

Remote Report Server 2005 using the reportviewer control - parameter problem

I am using an asp.net web page (C#) to access a remote Report Server via the reportviewer contol. After solving the credentials issues, all of my test reports seem to run very nicely if there is no parameter input. When a parameter report is executed, the text box for parameter input is displayed. When the parameter is entered and the View Report button is pressed, the report is NOT Returned. If I go directly to the remote Report Manager and run the report (IE no code behind), it runs as it is supposed to. I've also run the report (web page) on my local report server and it displays the report after the parameter has been input. Why is the remote report server not returning the report after the parameter is input?

Thanks,

John

This problem has been resolved. The page will not work if the "ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials = new MyReportServerCredentials();" statement is placed in the Page_Load event.

Here are the steps taken to eliminate the problem:

1. Remove the credentials statement from the Page_Load event.

2. Place this code in the Page_Load event

if (!Page.IsPostBack)
{
ReportViewer1.Visible = false;
}

3. Place a button on the page to display the report.

4. Move all report statements to the push button event. Make sure to include "ReportViewer1.Visible = true"

It now works like a champ and I am happy!

Thanks,

John
