Remotely Connect to Sql Server

Hi
i am trying to registering the remote sql server (MMC Sql EnterPrise
Manager) which is outside our Network . i.e the machine is located at ISP.
it is giving me error SQL server does not exist or access denied.
i am specifying the IP address of remote machine to whom i want to access
remotely,
(SQL Server Properties ) under connection tab - (configuration done to
remote sql server)
i had selected the option of allowing other sql server to connect remotely
to this sql server using RPC
even i am not able register remote sql server in my local sql server.
Can anyone help me out what exactly we have to do for remote access of sql
server.
Thanks
MiteshCan you ping the SQL server?
Can you telnet to port 1433 from your side ?
Is there a firewall in between ?
Make sure you can connect on port 1433 otherwise it will not work , you
would then need to check whats blocking that port somewhere!

yes i am able to do telnet to port 1433 after passing the telnet command at
port 1433. the telnet window shows connecting... and then telnet screen
becomes blank (might it been connected and waiting for commands )
remote server is located in data center then firewall will be there
............
Thanks

Remote SQL server fast access

Hi gurus,
I have sql server 2000 located in Europe which I am
accessing from Mumbai, through wan n/w but due to long
distance it's performance is very poor which tends the
user to wait for execution to complete ..I just come to
know that SQL client software (may be from Microsoft or
third party) will solve my problem. Please guide me in
this regard & let me know the software products available
for the same purpose, may be other than SQL client. So, I
can buy it.
Best Regards,
MANISH JADHAVTry using Remote Desktop or Terminal Server session instead.
This way only the keystrokes go across.
Thanks,

remote connection not allowed, but its local

I have a form to submit some data to a database located in the App_Data folder. I have the following connection string:

<

connectionStrings>

<

addname="ConnectionString"connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\Siven.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>

</

connectionStrings>

On the form I'm using a DetailsView control and using a SqlDataSource as the datasource, pointing to the above connection string. In realtime, when i submit the data, I receive the following error:

Server Error in '/' Application.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

I'm using discountasp.net as the host, and I did not elect to use the SQL Server databases, I'm just going to use SQL 2005 express. I dont understand why it's not pointing to the db when it's there (and to make sure, I re-uploaded). Is there something I missed here?

pcdebb:

In realtime, when i submit the data, I receive the following error:

When debug, the application can connect to SQL Server via Shared Memory Protocol (lpc). I guess when in realtime, Shared Memory Protocol may not be used by the website connection. So make sure you've enabled remote connection in SQL Server Surface Area Configuration
